Life was rather hard living in the early 1700s, and there were only a few things that could prevent a man from dying of bordeom. That is, if you could get past all of the hardships in life and see the real beauty.
Lovino had moved with ___ down into the Carribean in the city of Havana. While it killed him inside to love in Spanish country, he tried not to complain and look at the brighter side, but even that side was rather dull.
He was just a merchant who sold produce, rum, cloth and whatnot. There was a lot of thieves, however, so Lovino decided to pick up a sword and learn to fight with it. He was skilled, and won every swordfight that he had ever been in.
___, however, was just a bartender in a dinky, old tavern. You wanted to buy a ship one day to explore the vast lands and seas, so you decided to pick this job. Sure, you hear a lot of annoying hoots and calls, but the tips really add up after awhile.
One day, you were just wiping up the counter like you normally do, until a familiar face strode into the tavern. He had short, brown hair and fair skin. He was most definetly Spanish, and he had a dagger at his side. He wore a black hat with an assortment of feathers flaring out from the top, and had vivid green eyes.
From all the wanted posters you saw, you immediately knew it was Antonio Fernández Carriedo, one of the most feared Spanish pirates that has ever sailed in the West Indies. When he and his crew approached your counter, you shook a bit and watched him walk over, eyeing his every move.
"Hola, chica! My crew and I need some rum, please!" Antonio gave a smile, which really suprised you, you expected him to be rude, but instead he was rather cheerful.
You shot a smile back, since it's what your boss told you to do. "Alright then," you turned around and picked up some tankards.
~~~
While you have been making tons of money off of tips, Lovino was having no luck today. Some bastard stole wares from his stand, and he was feeling rather sickly. The Italian decided to pay a visit to you and maybe have a drink or two. Oh, how much he hated this damned city.
~~~
You sighed as you poured anothe bottle of rum for a man that has had one too many. And 'tipsy' was an understatement.
"You wanna come over to me ship!?" The crewman slurred.
"No thank you, and besides, your ship? I believe that's mutiny." You responded, regretting that you wore a dress that revealed your chest a bit too much.
"Suit yourself, but soon, ye be changin' your mind!" He the collapsed on the ground. It looked like the alcohol finally took its toll.
You walked over to a table to clean it up, but you were interrupted when a familiar someone pulled you onto their lap.
"Hola, you cosa hermosa, long time no see~!" Antonio smiled at you, and you could just smell the ale on his breath.
You tried to get out of his grip, but alas, he held you tight. What was he going to do? Take me on his ship? What about Lovino?
Antonio stood up and dragged you along with him. Most of his crew followed, the ones that stayed behind watched the courtesans dance on table tops.
You were definetly going on his ship. Fear gripped you, and you couldn't even make a sound, or try to protest. You just followed with wide eyes.
"The hell are you-a doing?"
You whipped your head to the side to see Lovino standing there with his sword unsheathed and with an angry look on his face. Lovino was easily adgitated, but was this a look of rage, or something else?
"What? I'm taking the chica back to my ship! Who are you to talk?" Antonio responded, slurring a bit. He then kissed you in the cheek and smiled.
Lovino looked like he was going to kill him, and he probably would. "Lay your hands off of my girl, you fucking Spaniard!"
Antonio released you and drew out his cutlass, with a smile still plastered on his face. "You want to fight me? You have guts!" Antonio stepped forward, as did Lovino, and they began to fight.
You were shaken and scared, and watched the two men fight while the crew shouted out God knows what. The clanks of steel brought pain to your chest, and every time Lovino was almost struck with the sharp blade, it pained your heart. You couldn't bear watching it, so you covered your eyes and started to cry. Then, you heard a thud. You removed your hands and expected the worst, but relief replaced your dread when you saw Antonio lying on the ground, and Lovino compleatly unscathed. The crew grew silent as they looked down at their dead, or unconscious, captain.
You hurriedly ran over to Lovino and hugged him. Both of you then ran back to a house that both of you shared, hoping that no crew members followed.
~~~
"You aren't working their anymore, ragazza!" That was the first thing that left Lovino's mouth.
"But I'm saving up for-"
"Dammit, ___, it's not-a worth it! You could've died! Or-a worse!" It hurt to hear those words, so had all your hard work been in vain?
"Lovino, you don't understand. It's been a dream of mine to explore the world, and why should all my hard work go to waste?" You were on the verge of tears.
"___..."
"Yes?" You asked. He walked over and sat down next to you and pulled you into a hug, which was a suprise to you. Nevertheless, you wrapped your arms around him, too.
"Is Antonio dead?" You asked out of curiosity.
"What? You want-a that bastardo to live? Do you like him more!?" Lovino released his hug and looked at you dead in the eyes. You smiled when you realized that he was jealous. He noticed this and his frown grew more. "What are you smiling at?"
"You know, Lovi, you shouldn't worry. Though Antonio may have stolen all the riches in the world," you gave him a quick peck on the cheek. "You stole my heart."
"I promise."
Sam flashed you a tiny smile of thanks before turning and heading off to who knows where. You watched her walk away before redirecting your attention to the crashing waves below you, a frown etched on your face. You closed your eyes and tried to clear your mind of all the negative thoughts swirling around it like a raging sea during a mighty storm. Taking a deep breath of the ocean air you leaned against the wooden railing lazily, enjoying the wind running through your hair and blowing gentle at your face.
You remained glued to that spot for a while, taking pleasure in
Arthur awoke the next morning to the sharp sound of the wooden door to the cabin being slammed open, the sound causing an excruciating pain to blare up in his head. The morning light flowing in through the two small windows doing nothing to aid his now throbbing forehead. He let out a loud groan before stuffing his head under his pillow in attempts to subdue the pain and block out the malevolent rays of sunlight that sent waves of agony coursing through his head from their intensity.
Through the throbbing pain reverberating through his skull, he could make out the distinct snickers o
